The Knox Brothers officially began their musical journey in 1968. But the story started before that. Raised on a grass-seed farm in the rural Willamette Valley of Oregon, the brothers were the six sons of Vernon and Elsie Knox. Their upbringings were Biblically based, and hard working; along with various hobbies ranging from airplanes to building radios. All of this transpired in the setting of being raised on the banks of old Muddy Creek near Harrisburg; a place just right for boys growing up. Vernon Knox (father), modeled all of the above interests, plus a love for travel. Perhaps this environment fueled the fire of what would later develop into a Knox Brothers singing ministry, which has spanned more than four decades. This journey has included many experiences, ranging from the small country church, to some of the larger stages, including the Great Western Fan Festival for eleven years running, plus an appearance at the Rose Garden in Portland, opening for a Gaither Homecoming! The Knox Brothers career has taken them coast to coast (including Alaska), as well as hosting 11 ocean cruises! The Brothers have also hosted many of the major Southern Gospel acts, as well as having performed on television, and brother Ed is “on the air” with his weekly radio show: “Ed Knox Spins Gospel:” every Saturday night since 1977 on KWIL AM 790 in Albany OR.
The Knox Brothers are a real-live band, giving their audience a taste of “home cookin” every time they appear. Also the Knox Brothers do all of the instrumentation on their albums, a rarity in Gospel Music today!
